What is AI visibility?
AI visibility is whether AI systems — ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, Perplexity, and Google's AI Overviews — mention and recommend your business when someone asks for what you sell.
The behavior shift is already here. Google AI Overviews now appear in roughly half of Google searches (D&D SEO Services, 2026). About 1 in 3 U.S. adults uses an AI chatbot at least weekly (Pew Research via iQDigital, 2026). When those tools answer "who's the best dentist near Stone Oak" or "best HVAC company in San Antonio," they name two or three businesses. Everyone else is invisible.

Why is San Antonio exposed right now?
Two reasons: growth and a wide-open market.
San Antonio hit roughly 1,513,974 residents in 2025, up 9.3% since the 2020 Census (World Population Review). It added 23,945 residents in a single year — 4th-most of any U.S. city (U.S. Census Bureau via Axios San Antonio, May 2025). New residents have no dentist, no plumber, no accountant, no relationship with anyone. They choose from a search box or a chat window. Roughly 53,000 small businesses in Bexar County (Bexar County Small Business and Entrepreneurship Dept) are competing for those decisions, from Stone Oak medical offices to the Pearl to the fast-growing New Braunfels I-35 corridor.
Meanwhile, no San Antonio player owns this category. A few local SEO shops — Funnel Boost Media, Southtown Web Design, Beast Creative Agency — have added AEO pages to their SEO menus. None publishes measured AI-visibility data for San Antonio. The demand is real and climbing: "AI SEO" pulls 6,600–8,100 U.S. searches a month, up 84% year over year, and "GEO agency" is up 1,850% (Google Keyword Planner via SEO Strategy study). What actually moves the score?
AI engines cite what they can find, trust, and verify. The mechanics are specific:
- 71.7% of ChatGPT citations come from pages with organic search presence (GrowingAI, 2026) — AI visibility builds on real search foundations.
- ChatGPT's search-grounded answers run against the Bing index. Not indexed in Bing means not citable by ChatGPT.
- Pages with FAQ schema are cited roughly 3x more often in Google AI Overviews (iQDigital, 2026).
- Pages untouched for ~90 days see measurably fewer AI citations (iQDigital, 2026). Freshness is a ranking input, not a nicety.
